In episode 8 of Koori Mail News (formerly the BLAKroom news podcast), your host Nick Paton yarns with the Koori Mail’s senior Journalist Darren Coyne about a group of Traditional Owners from Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait) Islands who are suing the Australian government.
Nick and Darren also yarn about a seperate group Traditional Owners from Zenadth Kes who have made a complaint against the Australian Government with the United Nations Human Rights Committee, plus an overview of the COP26 Climate Change summit currently being held in Scotland.
Nick has a yarn with Amelia Telford, the national director at the Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network, about why Seed raised more than $20K to send a delegate over to the COP26 Summit in Glasgow. Nick wraps up the episode with a yarn with Sports editor Darren Moncrieff about the implications climate change will have on sport now and into the future.
