  • Between Problems&Hope
    2024/03/08
“I have the feeling that nothing is changing, except the government that is changing regularly“ - What did my interview partners answer, when I asked them, if they are still hopeful for their country? This episode is the climax of my project, summing up the atmosphere I got from young Italians when talking about politics and their future. Which problems do they see? What about the working and living conditions in Italy, being an essential part when planning one‘s future? Why do so many young‘s feel disconnected from the politicians, is the demographic problem a part of it? Thank you for going this path through Italian politics with me, I might return to this at some point or another, politics is a topic that never finishes :) Till then, feel free to text me on Instagram @murilitravels, sharing your impressions of this podcast!

  • The Perception Of Politics
    2024/03/01
Are young Italians trying to affect politics? What’s their understanding of politics? What about trust and the picture of corruption in Italian politics? And talking about trustworthy - what’s the role of news sources? How do people inform themselves? Check out this review on Italian media by BBC, that I mentioned: BBC News. (2023, 3. Juli). • Movimento Delle Sardine
    2024/02/23
The rise of right-wing parties, populism and a more frequent use of demagogical language in politics… a common phenomenon, not only in Italy, but also in many other countries such as Germany. Mattia Santori and his friends didn’t want to just accept this and therefore organised a flashmob in Bologna to set a sign against fascism. Within a few days their call on Facebook went viral and they inspired protests in many other cities. In this episode I met Mattia Santori and he tells me about the movement he started, its developments and impact. A story of political activism, that should inspire everyone of us - are you the next one, pushing forward for a political change?

  • Traguardi - A Civic Movement
    2024/02/16
„Verona? Aah, the city of the faschists!“ The common response, when I told others that I stayed some days in Verona. Contrasting to this, it really impressed me that there’s a change happening, transforming this picture of the city, since a left-wing coalition got in charge in 2022. I met the local politicians Beatrice Verze and Pietro Trincanato of the civic movement Traguardi, that is part of this coalition. How did they manage to get elected? How are they trying to attract young voter‘s? Furthermore you can also hear Michele, who’s one of many young people engaging in this movement. Why did he choose to become a political activist, what is he longing for? Check out their website to learn more about them https://www.traguardi.org/! • Get People Interested Into Politics
    2024/02/09
Less and less people going voting, people telling me that they don’t care about politics… How could we get them back to interact in politics since this is key, living in a democracy? In this episode, I‘m talking about schools in Italy and the way they should focus on politics in order to help students to understand our society. Moreover I’m taking a closer look on the programs of Italian universities, parties and other ways to spark political interests such as the newspaper SCOMODO and funding programs. I‘ll be happy to hear from you on Instagram @murilitravels for any questions/feedback :)
