  • WE ARE BACK...with Bells, Bagpipes, Baldness and a smidge of business chat!

After a sun-soaked break enjoying beers and beaches in the Algarve, Dave and Trev are back!

Riding on the success of Series 1, the duo couldn’t resist returning for another round of lighthearted chatter. This time, they’ve teamed up with The Guild of Business Finance Professionals.

Since the Guild’s launch in June, the timing feels spot on, with a natural synergy bringing these two worlds together. While Dave’s wedding bells are still echoing in Trevor’s ears—along with the groans of other fellow “sufferers”—this new collaboration aims to strike a chord with business owners in need of financial expertise.

So, kick back, toss a log on the fire, and see if you can stay awake for the full 21 minutes and 35 seconds!

  • A Little Conclusion - Don't Call Me Elf!

After nine previous episodes, Dave and Trev wrap up Series 1 with a recap of all that’s unfolded on the show over the past six months.

The duo reflect on memorable guests, including Jo Hughes, the business owner from Episode 3, and Andrew Frost, the lender from Episode 9. Between these, there’s been a mix of other guests, some awful humour, and a quiz effort that didn’t quite capture the audience’s enthusiasm.

Since the founding of The Guild of Business Finance Professionals on June 6th, it seems fitting that future shows will align with the Guild to strengthen it's growing membership and communication channels.

As for Series 2, plans remain hidden under a big red blanket and still waiting for a clear direction. In the meantime, Dave and Trev will continue their playful mission to conquer South America, ponder a world tour, consider selling out to Netflix, or perhaps go off gallivanting with their showbiz pals, Mr Benedict Cumberbatch and Ms Gillian Anderson.

For more market updates and buffoonery, stay tuned for Series 2—coming to all nearby mobile phones in November/sometime soon!

  • The Lender - through the keyhole with Frost; Royalty included, toilet chat and we welcome Bolivia

On this penultimate episode of Series 1, David and Trevor enjoy a lively conversation with Andrew Frost from Genesis Asset Finance, a family business with nearly 25 years of experience lending to small businesses.

Andrew, now leading the company alongside his brother Edward, offers his candid perspective on the current marketplace, emphasising that lending is an "art," not a "science." He speaks passionately about the importance of personal connections in business, such as meeting customers face-to-face and working closely with intermediaries. This approach highlights the company's traditional values in a rapidly evolving industry.

As usual, the podcast gets lost down a pathway of both serious and light-hearted topics. In a fun twist, this episode marks the milestone of the podcast being downloaded on every continent, after finally reaching Bolivia—unlocking the long-closed and bolted South American "door."

On the lighter/darker side, "toilet chat" makes its debut, and there's a quirky introduction to the Royal Family of Bhutan, all in line with the usual mix of serious insights and awful banter that has become a flaw and frailty of the show.

This episode also welcomes the podcast’s first external sponsor, Finance Technology Services Limited, and introduces a new website that gathers all the key people and moments from the podcast's journey so far.
