  • Episode 15: Distress vs. Discomfort...and Consent
    2023/09/25

If you’re in a shadow season or a heavy time of loss, you know the process of healing can be painful and scary. There are moments within that process that you might think you’re just not going to make it through.

Emergence Coach Wendy Sloneker shares where this healing experience fits within your Emergence journey and your process of navigating feelings of grief or loss.

In this episode, Wendy explains the difference between distress and discomfort. Nothing will move or shift without your consent. This being said, Wendy guides us through how to stay present in our bodies while we sit in discomfort. When we can learn to tolerate it... even a bit, let ourselves be uncomfortable, the healing can begin.

If you could use support in navigating your own discomfort, finding your edge, and noticing your own signals of discomfort vs. distress, connect with Wendy. She is offering a complimentary call to start your process. Find more information at wendysloneker.com.

  • Episode 14: "Zooming Out" from Overwhelm in a Grief, Loss, or Shadow Season
    2023/09/11

Emergence Coach Wendy Sloneker talks about “Zooming out” in this episode. Before you log into that 3rd video chat of the day or “unmute” your mic and camera, just wait. Take a second to take a breath.

This practice of “Zooming out” is an exercise for your imagination. It’s a way to stay grounded when the feelings of grief or loss get overwhelming, and you’re not quite ready to face a “Zoomful” of people.

Think of Zooming out as taking a step back in those moments when the feelings are big. Remember: these moments have a before, a during, and an after. Be willing to stay aware while you are overwhelmed or anxious, so you can use the “Zoom out” as a way to take a step back and see the bigger picture.

Zooming out or taking a step back, big or small, can be a way to gain some perspective and let the path forward make itself a little more clear.

If you are ready to get some support in your Emergence journey, connect with Wendy at wendysloneker.com.

  • Episode 13: On Not Knowing How Emergence from Grief Is Gonna Happen
    2023/09/04

Emergence Coach Wendy Sloneker knows that waiting is hard. Thoughts of What happens next? What if…? can be overwhelming and take over our brains. Wendy has practiced taking  the unconscious discomfort of not knowing what might happen next and bringing it into the conscious thought of staying open to what’s possible.

This is where your Emergence journey can begin. Wendy encourages us to pay attention to opportunities to get into a new way of thinking. It’s not possible to know how things will play out.  The constant you CAN count on is that there will be times in your life where you must navigate feelings of grief and loss.

Wendy can help you find tools and gain skills to walk your Emergence journey with support. If you are ready for that step, book your complimentary 45-minute consultation to find the support you need.  Learn more at wendysloneker.com.

  • Episode 12: Crawling Back Into My Life Post-Covid
    2023/08/28

Emergence Coach Wendy Sloneker finds parallels and life lessons in all life throws at her, even having COVID!

In this episode, we learn how life’s biggest obstacles are determined by what’s happening to you in any given moment. And in this moment, for Wendy, it is recovering from being sick.

Our bodies have so-called “factory settings,” and what you need is what you need. So give yourself grace in the moments when your body needs rest your brain doesn’t want to give it. Or when what you need takes time your brain is sure you don’t have.

Notice your capacity, even when your brain tries to speak louder than your body. Put your energy where it serves you, even that is giving yourself rest and slowing down. And know it’s enough, because it is.

If you’re ready, and it feels like the next right thing, Wendy would love to support you. Find out more about Emergence on her website wendysloneker.com or visit goinginside.me for more on her group coaching program.

  • Episode 10: Establishing a Sense of Safety Inside of Yourself
    2023/07/31

It’s like a cage fight: inside tyranny vs inside safety, duking it out to take control of your sense of self. Feeling safe within yourself is an option; you can achieve it, you can maintain it, but you may need some new tools to get there and stay there.

You can cultivate a sense of safety in your own skin, in your insides. It happens, Emergence Coach Wendy Sloneker tells us, when there’s contact between the body and the nervous system, each providing and receiving mutual support.

But the sense of inside safety can be fragile and fleeting. There’s really no “figuring it out” for forever and ever, amen. You’ll need to return and listen and be aware, again and again.

If you’d like some help with that, Wendy would love to support you. Find out more about Emergence on her website wendysloneker.com or visit goinginside.me for more on her group coaching program.

  • Episode 9: Embodied vs. "Em-brained"
    2023/07/24

Emergence Coach Wendy Sloneker is helping us understand the difference between being Embodied and being “Em-brained” in this episode of Emergence from Life’s Biggest Obstacles.

Wendy shares her experience of what it was like when she was more “em-brained” than embodied — it wasn’t good. The “em-brainment” came with being too much in her own head and getting stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts. Can you relate?

Maybe it’s time to work on becoming more embodied. What does that mean? Wendy explains that embodiment is that gut wisdom, it’s heart wisdom, it’s listening to an “inner voice.”

Training yourself to be embodied starts with grounding yourself –– checking in with your body below the neck. It continues with the ability to stay curious –– asking questions of your own thoughts.

If this resonates, and you’re ready to take the next step, Wendy would love to support you. Find out more about Emergence on her website wendysloneker.com or visit goinginside.me for more on her group coaching program.

  • Episode 8: Trusting the Resonant & Simple in Emergence
    2023/07/17

In this episode, Emergence Coach Wendy Sloneker talks about your reticular activating system: the built-in system in your body that helps you hit the reset button. When you need to stop and refocus, give yourself a break, and work on the tone of your self-talk, reticular activation can give you a way to develop the skills for the positive self-talk you need.

For Wendy, puzzles and word searches are her reset, and she has taken what works well for her and paired it with affirmations and encouragements to help you settle and refocus your mind. Pairing the “resonant” and the “simple” works. Like emotional chocolate and peanut butter, they are simply better together.

When your body and the quiet part of your mind both say “yes” to whatever you’re asking of them, well, that’s when you can almost taste the chocolatey-peanut butter goodness (metaphorically) all around you. Knowing how to get there and being able to be intentional about it is a bit like having a bag of Halloween candy that’s never empty.

If you feel ready for next steps, support is available through Wendy and the work she is doing  with Emergence. Get more information on her website wendysloneker.com or visit goinginside.me for more on her group coaching program.
