  • In this episode, Emergence Coach Wendy Sloneker talks about your reticular activating system: the built-in system in your body that helps you hit the reset button. When you need to stop and refocus, give yourself a break, and work on the tone of your self-talk, reticular activation can give you a way to develop the skills for the positive self-talk you need. 

    For Wendy, puzzles and word searches are her reset, and she has taken what works well for her and paired it with affirmations and encouragements to help you settle and refocus your mind. Pairing the “resonant” and the “simple” works. Like emotional chocolate and peanut butter, they are simply better together.

    When your body and the quiet part of your mind both say “yes” to whatever you’re asking of them, well, that’s when you can almost taste the chocolatey-peanut butter goodness (metaphorically) all around you. Knowing how to get there and being able to be intentional about it is a bit like having a bag of Halloween candy that’s never empty.
