    A Master Certified Coach trained by Martha Beck, Ph.D., and a Certified Equus Coach (TM) and Master Equus Facilitator through the Center for Equus Coaching. She coaches individuals, couples, families, and groups, and is delighted to provide team-building, strategic planning, leadership coaching, and transformational experiences with horses.

    She is a Senior Executive Coach and Master Equus Coach at pLink Leadership, an instructor on the faculty at Martha Beck, Inc. Wayfinder Life Coach Training, an instructor and facilitator at the Center for Equus Coaching, and a training and leadership consultant for numerous agencies in the San Diego area and nationally.

    With over 30 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with advanced certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing and HIV and AIDS. She is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California for over 20 years and is certified in Gestalt Therapy, Domestic Violence Treatment, Critical Incident Stress Management, and Alcoholism and Addiction Treatment. A member of the International Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and the International Speakers Network (ISN), a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF), and a Brené Brown Certified Daring Way and Dare to Lead Facilitator (CDTLF).

    She was a Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) honoree in 2009 and was honored as the Mental Health Nurse of the Year from the North County Civic Association in 2006.
    Her book "10 Principles of Personal and Professional Resilience" is featured in Discover Your Inner Strength, co-authored by Ken Blanchard, Brian Tracy, and Stephen Covey, published by Insight Publishing (2010). She is also the co-author of Feeling Terrific: Four Strategies for Overcoming Depression Using Mood Regulation Therapy, published in 2005.

    Founded in 2010, Hope Reins is Kim’s heartfelt response to her childhood
    marked by abuse and trauma. Seeking love amid familial
    alcoholism, Kim found solace in her loyal horse, Country, sparking her
    journey of hope and healing. Now, at the 38-acre Hope Reins ranch
    in Raleigh, North Carolina, Kim’s team has empowered more than 3,000
    children to discover hope and healing alongside 18 rescued horses, with
    all services provided free of charge.

    The ranch gained national attention in 2018 when volunteer Jennifer
    Bleakley penned the best-selling book “Joey,” narrating Hope Reins’
    origins and the transformative role played by its blind Appaloosa horse
    in helping children heal.


    Kim has been featured in various national publications including Focus
    on the Family, and has been a guest on podcasts such as Nothing is
    Wasted, Treasured Ministries, and Grace Enough. She recently appeared
    on PBS’ Side by Side with Dr. Nido Qubein. In 2020, she received the
    Triangle Business Journal’s Women in Business Award recognizing her
    as a dynamic leader in business and community service. Kim lives in
    Raleigh with her husband Michael, two kids, Chance and Isabel, and
    three dogs.
