  • #157 - Raising Our Children to Experience their Feelings and Emotions Safely - Jane Evans
    2023/10/31
INTRO International Parenting Coach and Media Expert, Jane Evans, famously known for going head-to-head live on Good Morning Britain TV with an irate Piers Morgan! Credits her son, the children, young people, parents, and carers she’s worked with and cared for, as being her greatest teachers. They have consistently shown and taught her the realities of how lives are profoundly shaped by early childhood experiences. CONTENT Jane starts by sharing how she previously worked with young people and adults with complex needs and traumas and that led her to be more curious about how our brains and bodies work. And the resulting How to Tend and Tame your Meerkat, which you can find on YouTube. Which is a very easy way of explaining our Nervous System. Jane goes on to say that we aren’t taught as children how to express our emotions safely and in turn can’t teach our children either. So, the emotions get locked away, leaving us incapable expressing those emotions  in a healthy way when they arise. Or leading to mental health problems.    BIO Jane’s huge curiosity about the why behind children and adults struggles with anxiety and low self-worth. This has led her to study a wide range of cutting-edge body and brain-based science. And to create four children’s books so that parents, carers, and professionals have essential resources to use with the children.  Jane brings her knowledge, her professional and life experience into her roles as a renowned TV and Radio Expert, author of four children’s’ books, her TED Talk, and international Coaching and speaking. As a co-creator of the highly effective Healing Together Programme in partnership with the ground-breaking Innovating Minds.  Jane regularly trains those working directly with children to offer a trauma-sensitive programme with resources to support children impacted by domestic violence, anxiety, and overwhelming feelings of anger.   Jane makes the why behind children and adult’s behaviours, simple to grasp. And provides solid, practical solutions so everyone has the opportunity to live well, beyond their anxiety and other limiting beliefs and behaviours.  CONTACT DETAILS / LINKS Jane’s TED Talk is - Taming and Tending Your Meerkat Brain Website: www.thejaneevans.com  Email: jane@thejaneevans.com Twitter: @janeparenting2 Facebook: Parenting children beyond anxiety   Jane’s books published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers: Little Meerkat’s Big Panic How Are You Feeling Today Baby Bear? • #156 - It's Not Your Fault - Adrian Huxley
    2023/10/17

    INTRO

Adrian Huxley is a counsellor and psychotherapist living in beautiful West Somerset. He is also the owner of West Somerset Counselling which he formed some eight years ago

    CONTENT

Both Adrian and I have talked to many clients who have been taken care of as children, in as much as they have been fed and clothed, but they have missed out on their emotional needs – they haven’t been loved in the way they should have.

This has impacted their adult relationships, because they just don’t know how to do it. They close up, they find it difficult, or they act inappropriately, believing sex equals love for example.

But the bottom line is – it’s not your fault, listen in to hear the reasons why.

    BIO

After a life where I had known dark and unhappy times, I arrived in West Somerset 14 years ago. I met my second wife soon after arriving and we settled down together and had 12 happy years of marriage. I sadly lost her in 2020 but I was lucky to have the support of special friends and family. I am now beginning the next stage of my life, I'm not sure what that will involve but then, finding out is what will make it fun.

  • #155 Helping Women To Rediscover Themselves and Move Forward Authentically -Elizabeth Payce -
    2023/10/04
INTRO         Elizabeth Payce and her business ‘Payce Your Change’ focuses on supporting women in ther 40s and 50s to have the space and permission to face issues head on and to move forward with authenticity.    CONTENT Elizabeth began by talking about how women often get to a certain age where they feel invisible. They have beencaring for everyone else, their partner, their children, grandchildren, other  r relatives, giving them drive and purpose. But then they are no longer needed, leaving ahuge void in their lives. Others in their lives stop seeing them as a person, instead the label they have worn. Elizabeth says this is a time to for women to find themselves, and what they really want.  BIO Elizabeth Payce is a dedicated coach and NLP practitioner having qualified  in 2011 with diplomas in both through The Coaching Academy.  In 2022 Elizabeth established ‘Payce Your Change – Be Authentically You’ coaching.  Since then she has focused on evolving coaching, NLP and mentoring practices to support women through midlife.  In her 50s herself, Elizabeth has experienced a wide range of personal issues which through coaching and mentoring she has been able to face head on.  In turn with her coaching and mentoring experiences she wants to empower women to focus on their needs and to put themselves first in their lives.   She advocates for women to be visible and to be heard.  Her coaching offer grows around each woman she talks with.      She is also now a podcaster, creating ‘Fabulous Women Kickass’ with two other amazing coaches.  The honest conversations between the three women all in midlife gives insight into the pressures, challenges and opportunities for women.   Prior to this Elizabeth worked in the museum sector after her academic journey saw her gain a Postgraduate Diploma in Heritage Studies at Nottingham Trent University.  From 1995 she worked in a range of museums, in Chichester, Weston-super-Mare, Romford then in a support role across Bath, Somerset and Swindon.   Working in museums gave Elizabeth exposure to ideas of how to support people to connect with their heritage.  She produced a wide range of exhibitions utilising the breadth of collections in each museum.  One project she is particularly proud of is ‘Then and Now - Teens through the Time Warp’.  This saw a group of young people manage this exhibition project whereby they researched and produced an exhibition on youth culture from the 1950s.  It was in top three projects for young people funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2007 and was featured on national television.   Elizabeth remains a dedicated supporter of Museums.  She is now a trustee of the Royal Crown Derby Museum and Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life.    Outside of her business Elizabeth loves walking and photography, two complementary activities.  She is an avid listener to crime thriller audio books as well as a reader of non-fiction works to keep her up to date with current practice.   Her time is also spent with her wonderful Greek partner Alex and her beautiful cats, Kes and Pixie.   CONTACT DETAILS / LINKS Website - www.payceyourchange.co.uk   Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/elizabeth-payce/   Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/Elizabethpaycecoaching/   Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/payce_your_change/   ABOUT WENDY CAPEWELL Wendy is a Psychotherapist and Counsellor,  living in Hampshire, helping and supporting individauls and couples who are struggling, feeling lost, or helpless.
