  • The Power of Collaboration: How Doing Things Together Helps Us Get Unstuck Faster
    2026/03/12

In this episode of the Why Not Today podcast, Leslie Kane shares a simple but powerful reminder about the value of collaboration and fresh perspective.

Have you ever had something sitting on your to do list for months that should only take an hour? Maybe it is organizing a room, finishing a project, making a decision, or finally taking the next step in your business.

Leslie shares a story from a recent weekend when she and a friend decided to tag team some projects. They spent the weekend painting her bedroom and her friend’s basement, making a few trips to Home Depot along the way, and enjoying the process of getting things done together.

While they were moving furniture in the bedroom, Leslie casually mentioned that she never watches the TV in there anymore. Her friend looked at it and asked a simple question.

“Then why do you still have it?”

That one question led to removing the TV, the stand, and the cable running along the baseboard that had been collecting dust for years. Suddenly the room felt lighter, calmer, and more intentional.

It was a perfect reminder that sometimes we stay stuck not because we do not know what to do, but because we have been looking at the same situation for so long that we cannot see it any other way.

Leslie also talks about the idea of lateral mentors. These are the people who walk beside us in life and business. They may not be far ahead of us, but they offer fresh perspective, encouragement, and ideas that can help us move forward faster.

When we invite collaboration into our lives, decisions often become easier and momentum builds.

    Highlights from this episode

    • Why collaboration often helps us solve problems faster than trying to figure everything out alone

    • How “lateral mentors” provide valuable perspective and help us see situations differently

    • Why one simple question can turn something you have avoided for months into immediate action

If there is something you have been putting off, consider inviting someone into the process. A friend, colleague, or peer might be the person who helps you see the next step more clearly.

Take a moment this week and ask yourself one simple question. Who could help me look at this differently? Then take the next step.

  • The Courage to Say Yes and the Power of Being a Connector with Alicia Liddle
    2026/03/05

In this anniversary episode of the Why Not Today podcast, Leslie sits down with her sister Alicia Liddle to talk about courage, connection, and the power of taking action.

Together they reflect on the idea of connectors, inspired by Malcolm Gladwell’s description of people who naturally build relationships across many different circles and bring others together in meaningful ways.

Leslie and Alicia also share stories about their father, who modeled this gift throughout his life. He was known for introducing people, encouraging others, and helping individuals see possibilities they might not have recognized on their own. His curiosity about people and willingness to reach out created connections that impacted many lives.

This conversation is a reminder that courage often begins with a simple decision to act. Saying yes to an opportunity, reaching out to someone new, or connecting two people who could benefit from knowing each other can create powerful ripple effects.

    Highlights

    • A conversation about courage and the decision to take action • How connectors bring people together and create opportunity • The legacy of connection and encouragement modeled by their father

If this conversation resonated with you, think about one person you could encourage, introduce, or reach out to today. Small acts of connection can make a lasting impact. Learn more about the Why Not Today community and upcoming opportunities at www.whynottodaymovement.com.

  • Why Courage Grows Faster in Community: You Were Never Meant to Do This Alone
    2026/02/26

In this heartfelt solo episode of the Why Not Today podcast, Leslie Kane reflects on what it means to begin the fifth year of the podcast and celebrate its fourth anniversary. After over 31 years in Mary Kay, building teams, mentoring women, and now leading the Why Not Today movement, one truth continues to stand out:

    Courage rarely grows in isolation.

From the powerful example of her father’s deep involvement in the community to the lessons learned through weekly success meetings and accountability, Leslie shares how community protects belief, builds momentum, and creates true belonging.

She opens up about the honest moments when quitting felt easier. The mornings when she wondered if anyone was listening. The temptation of a predictable paycheck. And the decision to keep showing up anyway.

This episode moves beyond networking and business strategy. It explores how real community means accountability, structure, prayer, encouragement, and walking alongside one another in both joyful and heartbreaking seasons. Whether celebrating wins or supporting someone through cancer, grief, or family emergencies, community becomes the steady foundation that sustains courage.

If you have been trying to do it all on your own, this conversation will remind you that you were never meant to build or carry life alone.

    Episode Highlights

    • Why community does more than offer strategy and actually protects your belief

    • The difference between community that feels like noise and community that creates momentum

    • Real stories of support through illness, grief, and life’s hardest seasons

Courage multiplies when we show up together.

If this episode encouraged you, share it with someone who may need it today. And if you are looking for deeper accountability or stronger connection in your life or business, send me a message. Let’s build together.

    Because courage is contagious.

  • Courage, Support, and Reframing Goals Around People with Nichole Curtis
    2026/02/06

What if growth did not come from pushing harder but from allowing the right support?

In this episode of Why Not Today?, Leslie is joined by Nichole Curtis for an honest conversation about courage, leadership, and the mindset shifts that make sustainable growth possible. Nichole shares her personal Why Not Today moments, from stepping into a commission only career before feeling ready to making the decision to join the Inner Circle when it was not in her original plan.

Nichole opens up about the real benefits she experienced inside the Inner Circle, including having consistent support, accountability, and a safe space to talk through challenges without judgment. She explains how being surrounded by like minded women helped her shift out of a purely numbers driven mindset and instead focus on the people she was serving. That shift not only changed how she felt as a leader, but also helped her increase her production by 40 percent.

The conversation also explores what it looks like to miss a big goal and keep going anyway. Nichole shares how the Inner Circle helped her process disappointment, stay confident as a leader, and model resilience for her team. Together, Leslie and Nichole remind listeners that growth takes time, support matters, and success is not about perfection but about staying in the game.

In this episode, you will hear:

    • Why sharing your goals invites support instead of pressure

    • How the Inner Circle provided mindset shifts, confidence, and accountability

    • Why focusing on people instead of numbers can change how you lead and grow

Ask yourself where you have been trying to do everything alone and choose one way to let support in today instead of waiting for the perfect time.

  • Networking, Mattering, Community, and Connection with Leslie Kane
    2026/01/30

What if networking was not about business cards or selling, but about making people feel seen?

In this solo episode of the Why Not Today podcast, Leslie Kane shares the personal story that shaped her passion for community, connection, and courageous relationships. From her father’s role in founding the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce to the lessons he taught about responsibility, integrity, and legacy, Leslie reveals why real networking is not transactional, it is relational.

She explores the concept of mattering and the difference between belonging and truly feeling valued. Through powerful stories, including the starfish metaphor and real-life moments of connection, Leslie shows how small, intentional relationships can create lasting impact in business and life.

If networking has ever felt awkward, overwhelming, or unclear, this episode will shift your perspective and give you a new way to build authentic relationships, grow trust, and strengthen community.

Key highlights from this episode include:

    • Why networking is really about connection, not contacts, and how authentic relationships build trust and opportunity • The difference between belonging and mattering and why feeling valued changes how people show up in life and business • The starfish story and how small acts of connection can create meaningful impact

To help you put these ideas into action, Leslie created a free worksheet called Networking Without Awkwardness. It is designed to help you shift from selling to connecting and build know, like, and trust in a natural, confident way.

    Download the worksheet here: https://vipelnk.com/1tlszq1

As you listen, think about one person you could encourage, connect, or support this week. Real community is built one relationship at a time. You do not have to change the world. You just have to change someone’s world.
