Episode 16 - Dr. Denise Cundey: Understanding Pain Science Within Physical Therapy

  • サマリー

    • Graduated from Marquette University with a BA in Psychology, and a Master's in Physical Therapy
    • Completed an Orthopedic Residency Program and received my transitional DPT through Evidence in Motion
    • I am an orthopedic certified specialist
    • I have worked primarily in orthopedics in my PT practice, but did do a year in pediatrics
    • I have been with Athletico for 16 years, managed 3 clinics, currently managing a new clinic in Warner Robins, GA, as we expand into the southeast
    • I treat patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, mostly orthopedic in nature, but will see occasional neuro/vestibular/balance disorders. I have worked with a lot of endurance athletes and work comp patients in my previous settings
    • Taken continuing educ in multiple areas, most recently going through a dry needling certification (have one more class to complete), also certified in Graston technique. I have completed a 6 week cohort on pain science which is why I want to speak more on this on Wed.
    • I am currently on day 659(ish?) of a run streak, running at least one mile daily. Something that just kind of started during Covid and stuck!  Usually 3-5 miles per day, I am a retired marathoner. Also enjoy spinning, hiking, any sports or outdoor activities in general.

This is also a really nice 5 minute video out of Australia on how to explain pain to patients/clients:
