  • Welcome to A Held space the podcast: Your Held space - a podcast to help you create space in your life for you, and to accompany you through your very human experiences. For you to breathe, for you to slow down, feel comforted, understand and get closer to yourself and how you feel. Throughout these episodes, I will guide you through creating your own Held space. They will each be tailored to a particular emotion or experience for you to hit play and be. Some may resemble what a lot of us know as guided meditations and they may incorporate mindfulness techniques or breathing exercise… but your held space is absolutely zero pressure to even listen to what I say! You can simply switch me on, and let yourself be, let yourself unravel and feel held by my voice, relax and help guide you to sleep, take you on a walk or be with you on your commute. A Held space will accompany you through all the things we go through as humans and ultimately, hopefully, help you feel safe to feel your emotions, and be with yourself through whatever it is you‘re going through in life. For each episode, I will post an accompanying video for you to have something comforting to look at whilst you listen to me, if you’re at home or maybe don’t like closing your eyes whilst you listen. These will be uploaded to my instagram (@aheldspace) and youtube - A Held Space. I’m Sophie, the creator of AHS and I am an artist, trainee art psychotherapist and have worked for a number of years supporting people in mental health crisis, postvention and bereavement support. AHS is a fusion of all these things, using art and creativity to understand and build relationships with ourselves. It values self acceptance and being with all parts of ourself, creating space for us to be totally ourselves, in our experience, so that we can go back out into the world… and what we give to the world is then more loving, more caring and considered. It’s more peaceful and relaxed. We are more inspired to be IN the world and give to the world. Imagine a world like this. Imagine a world where we take care of ourselves, others and the world. I cannot wait to be with you on your journey through these episodes. Remember, you are deserving or time and space. Say it to yourself now, even if it feels cheesy! I am deserving of time and space.

    New Years resolutions... returning to work... pain the body... feeling unsettled... whatever noise you've found in your external or internal world, find space for you with this week's episode. Expect lots of deep, refreshing breaths, questions for reflection and things to contemplate going into your week.

  • Feeling safe in your body ft. Polyvagal exercises

    In today‘s episode we really amplify how this is YOUR held space, and what that means to you. We simplify checking in with yourself, breaking it down into 3 practical parts. I also lead you through a simple Polyvagal exercise that you can do anytime, anywhere to work from the bottom-up: when our body feels safe, it has affects our emotions, our minds and thoughts.
