The Red Sox returned home to Fenway Friday night after a 2-5 Road Trip and lost 4-2 in 12 Innings to the Minnesota Twins. The Red Sox went 1-for-19 with runners in scoring position and stranded 17 runners on base. Sox are 2 Games below .500 with 8 games remaining in the Regular Season. -----Too Many K's: The Red Sox struck out a season-high 20 times (tied a franchise record) against 9 Minnesota pitchers Friday night and have struck out 10 or more times in 83 games this season (10 times with 10+ Ks in September). Tyler O'Neill struck out 4 times. Rafael Devers and Triston Casas both struck out 3 times in the loss. -----Fitts Keeps Putting Up Zero's: Richard Fitts made his 3rd Big League start and 2nd at Fenway Friday night. The 24-year-old worked 5 scoreless innings and exited with a 1-0 lead but ended up with his 3rd straight no-decision. Fitts allowed 5 Hits (all Singles). He walked 1 and struck out 3. Fitts stranded runners at 2nd & 3rd in the 4th and left 2 more on in the 5th Inning. Fitts has now worked 15.2 Innings without allowing an Earned Run over his 1st 3 Big League starts. -----Squandered Opportunity I: With the game tied at 1-1 in the Bottom of the 7th, Ceddanne Rafaela led off with a Double. It was just his 4th Extra-Base hit in the month of September. Minnesota reliever Cole Sands came back and struck out Jarren Duran, Rafael Devers, and Tyler O'Neill to leave Rafaela at 2nd. -----Squandered Opportunity II: Sox loaded up the bases with 3 straight hitters reaching with 2 outs in the 8th but Ceddanne Rafaela popped up to the 2nd-baseman for the final out. According to Baseball Reference, the Red Sox have had 103 opportunities with the bases loaded this season and still do not have a Grand Slam. -----Squandered Opportunity III: Jarren Duran led off the Bottom of the 9th with a single. He stole 2nd after Rafael Devers struck out and moved to 3rd on a wild pitch after Tyler O'Neill struck out and was left stranded at 3rd after Wilyer Abreu struck out to end the inning. Red Sox left runners at 2nd and 3rd in the 10th and again inn the 11th. -----On the Board 1st: Red Sox were held to just a single and 1 walk through the 1st 3 Innings against Twins starter, David Festa. The Red Sox put together 2 hits and a walk in the 4th and got on the board 1st with Trevor Story knocking in a run with a 2-out Single. -----1st Out of The Pen: Luis Guerrero was the 1st in from the Bullpen in the series opener. Guerrero gave up a Double and Single and had runners at 1st and 3rd with 1 out but he was able to get out of the inning without giving up the lead. Twins stranded 8 runners through the first 6 Innings against Fitts and Guerrero. -----2nd Out of the Pen: Twins tied the game up at 1-1 against Chris Martin in the 7th Inning. Byron Buxton reached with a 1-out Single, stole 2nd and ended up scorning on a fielder's choice ground out. Martin got a strikeout for the final out of the Inning and left a runner stranded. -----A Look Ahead: The Twins and Red Sox continue their 3-Game Series Saturday afternoon.
