“I was inspired to present the history that has led to the current social and political conditions of our country,” says Donald Wm Jeffries, a historian who penned a provocative and insightful book, I Could Have Been One. “In realizing there is a connection between Communism/Socialism and Christianity by way of similarities concerning communal living and anti-Capitalism,” says Jeffries, “I began to observe a parallel between Communism/Socialism and Christianity, in that both are concerned with the physical welfare of the people. However, there are also differences between Communism/ and Socialism and Christianity, because Christianity is also concerned with the spiritual welfare of the people in following Jesus Christ to God, while Communism/Socialism does not because they do not believe in God. They see only this world and are concerned only with this world and Christians have hope and faith of life after death to this earthly existence.”.
