From the golden age of radio drama, these vintage performances feature Theatre Royal's ensemble cast, led by eloquent English actor Ralph Richardson, and a lushly orchestrated soundtrack. Henry James' "The Liar" follows a portrait painter reunited with a former lover, now married to a self-aggrandizing colonel with a penchant for lies. Hoping to reclaim his love, the painter sets out to capture the essence of the sham marriage via a brutally honest portrait of the colonel, thereby forcing his wife to choose between her morals and affections. "Four Meetings" introduces simple New England schoolteacher Caroline Spencer, saving her meager earnings so she might one day travel Europe. Spencer's dreams are tested by a manipulative family member in this tale of hard work and fleeting opportunity.
