Don't Say "S#%&X" in Church!
What if one prayer could change your view of God and money?
Money matters. It matters to you and it matters to God. Money often consumes our culture, dominates our thoughts and drains our energy. God understands this and has a wonderful plan for avoiding the pitfalls of a money-driven world.
What is your magic number? How much money would it take to make all your problems disappear? Most people are smart enough to know that money cannot solve their problems, but in the back of their minds their magic number lingers. Money becomes a God-substitute when we look to it for comfort, peace and security.
Everyone gives a percentage of his or her income to God... somewhere between 0-100 percent. Is the percentage you give generous? How do you know? Have you ever asked God what percentage of your income is generous? Percentage-based giving provides a standard of generosity that we can evaluate as our faith in Jesus grows.
It is easy to worry about money. Will we have enough? What happens if we run out? Jesus told us to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all this would would be added to us as well. Percentage-based giving is the first things first proposition. Seek Jesus first and He will give you the abundant life He desires.
Invest in God's economy and He will provide an exponential return. God will use what you give Him to multiply His Kingdom. Giving generously to God makes you a participant in His mission to seek and save the lost. The end result will be more people in the kingdom of Heaven. God will use your investment to produce a harvest one hundred, sixty or third times what was sown.
