このコンテンツについて

Law professor Noah Feldman talks about democracy in Islamic countries and writer/director Eitan Gorlin talks about his new film, The Holy Land on this edition of Fresh Air. Noah Feldman is a professor of the New York University School of Law with a doctorate in Islamic thought from Oxford. Until recently he was head of the constitutional team with the Office of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance in Iraq. He continues to advise the Iraqi government on writing their constitution. Feldman is also the author of the new book, After Jihad: America and the Struggle for Islamic Democracy. In the book he argues that it is time for Islamic democracies. Eitan Gorlin's latest film The Holy Land won the Grand Jury Best Feature Film prize at the 2002 Slamdance film Festival. It's a love story, loosely based on his novella Mike's Place, A Jerusalem Diary and his experiences as a bartender there. Mike's Place is a popular bar on the Tel Aviv waterfront where Jews, Muslims, internationals, atheists and devout people congregate. Since making the film, Mike's Place, was the site of a suicide bombing. (Broadcast Date: August 5, 2003)(P) and ©2003 WHYY-FM 自伝・回顧録
