This volume is for parents, educators, and students to better understand special education and related services. It is important to have familiarity with the history of special education and related services as this knowledge will empower parents and educators to better utilize special education and related services, which is addressed in-depth in Volume VI - The Application of Special Education Law. One does not have to be an attorney to be successful in advocating for their child or student, however, understanding the nature of special education and its laws is invaluable for parents and educators alike.
