このコンテンツについて
"Stories From Riverwood" is a humorous look back at the Post-World War II era through the eyes of a child while growing up in Riverwood, Indiana. It is made up of childhood stories that the author, Gary Crask, told to his children as they were growing up, plus a few stories that he didn't tell them. They include interesting encounters with some very famous people and other not so famous people, but all very interesting in their own way. Most of the stories have a moral or a lesson to be learned, and you can feel a life's philosophy beginning to develop from a very early age. After listening to this book, you will have a very good feel for what the world was like back then in a less complicated time in small-town America before computers, large expensive houses and working moms.
Gary is the co-writer/director of the award winning, dramatic feature film, Spirits of St. Paul, about the gangster era in St. Paul in the 1920s and '30s. He wrote "Stories From Riverwood" in September of 2011, self-published in hardback and given by the author to his family as Christmas presents.
It was written as a letter forward to his great, great grandchildren, and therefore to be read by those whom the author would never know.
It was never intended to be published for public consumption.
As the book got passed around and other non-family members read it and seemed to enjoy it, Gary was encouraged to publish it.
