Charles Augustus Milverton makes his career as a blackmailer, and one of his victims is Lady Eva Blackwell, a socialite whose life is about to ruined if she doesn't pay him 7,000 pounds. Lady Eva hires Sherlock Holmes to recover letters in Milverton's possession, and he and Dr. Watson break into the Milverton home to steal them. What they witness there, however, will be shocking.
