あらすじ・解説
Join Abby, Georgia, Jeremy, Nikki, and Mylie as they host a series of events designed to provide thrills and chills to all who dare to venture within.
In book 16 in the series, Abby is offered the chance to participate in an author event being held at Firehouse Books with one of her own favorite authors. When the guest author turns up dead, Abby realizes that clues to the author’s death could be found in the new novel the woman had yet to release. Using her own sleuthing skills, Abby jumps into the investigation after it becomes clear that it just might take an author to find the meaning in the pages. Meanwhile, it is weeks before Halloween, and the inn is filled with guests looking for a spooky weekend retreat.
In book 17, Abby joins Colt as he investigates the death of a local man who died after eating pudding dosed with poison during a community dinner. Was the man targeted, or was the poison in the pudding a random act set into motion by a madman intent on murder?
Meanwhile, Thanksgiving is only a few days away, and several guests who've visited the inn in the past return to spend the holiday with Abby, Georgia, and the rest of the Inn at Holiday Bay family. In addition to the return cast, a couple is looking for their runaway granddaughter, and another is trying to make the best of things after tragedy struck his family.
In book 18, while on a date with Abby, Colt receives a call to check out a light inside an abandoned lighthouse closed for renovations. The pair respond to the call only to find evidence of two trespassers, one of which is now dead. Meanwhile, Abby is swamped at the inn helping Georgia and Jeremy when the cast of a reality show check in.
Real Detectives might just be a "small-time" competition hosted by the same local cable television station that airs Georgia's cooking show, but the quarter million dollars in prize money represents a "big-time" payday, causing the eight competitors who made it to the finals to take things quite seriously.
