In Rugby League: Former Broncos, Dragons and Wallabies star Wendell Sailor has been charged for an alleged assault on two men in a bar in Sydney’s CBD, after NSW Police officers were called to Pappy’s Bar on Erskine Street around 11pm on Wednesday night.
Sailor was reportedly drinking at the bar for several hours before the altercation took place in an alleyway outside.
Sailor was granted conditional bail by police and will face Downing Centre Local Court on 28 November.
Earlier on Wednesday, police took out an apprehended domestic violence order to protect a woman from Sailor in an unrelated incident.
Now 50 years old, Sailor scored 127 tries in 222 NRL games for the Broncos and Dragons from 1996 to 2009 and won NRL premierships with Brisbane in 1997, 1998 and 2000.
Sailor also scored 13 tries in 37 Tests for the Wallabies and played in the 2003 Rugby World Cup final loss to England.
In Football: Key UEFA Champions League scores from yesterday: Club Brugge 1-0 Aston Villa, Shatkhar 2-1 Young Boys, Bayern Munich 1-0 Benfica, Paris 2-1 Atleti, Inter 1-0 Arsenal, Feyenoord 1-3 Salsburg and Crvena Zvezda 2-5 Barcelona.
