For my very first episode I got to talk with brilliant comedic writer and spiritual giver of insight and care, my kind and funny twin friend, Hong Kong's karaoke king - Shane Sakhrani! We break down our personal definitions of duende, Shane opens up about how he alchemizes the chaos of confronting his duende into a different type of dramedy, and we discuss his choice of Nathan Fielder's and Benji Safdie’s provocatively absurdist "The Curse" as his example of “Where is Duende Today?” - what was up with that wild ending??!! Lol We play the first ever game of “Duende or No Duende?” - Oasis reunion tour or cash grab?, immersive theatre and Bill and Ted’s Excellent Godot - which all bring up the question of how to, like Lorca says, “rob yourself of safety” in an artistic landscape that is seemingly more and more prioritizing the opposite.
