HONORING OUR NATIONS HEROES: This is the first of two Veteran's day interviews we did. Our guest here is Green Beret John Stryker Meyer, author of Across The Fence: The Secret War in Vietnam, which tells the story of the special forces operators who volunteered to be dropped into Laos, Cambodia, and North Vietnam to monitor and hamper the movements of the attacking North Vietnamese Army as they brought hundreds of thousands of soldiers and weapons down the Ho Chi Minh Trail. • THE COFFIN CORNER BOYS
    2024/11/17

The "Coffin Corner Boys" was the nickname given to the B-17 crews of WWII that flew in the most vulnerable corner of the bomber formations. In 1943 and 44 any member of a B-17 crew had a 0% chance of surviving 25 missions over Germany without being shot down. When the Luftwaffe was finally defeated and fighter escorts were provided their chances went up, but only slightly. Author Carole Avriett tells the story of one crew that was shot down over France- telling of their courage, their harrowing adventures, and of the French people and French resistance who risked their lives to save downed allied airmen.

The Coffin Corner Boys by Carole Avriett is available wherever fine books are sold.

  • THE FIGHTING BUNCH- THE BATTLE TO END VOTING CORRUPTION IN TENNESSEE (AUTHOR INTERVIEW)
    2024/11/02

In August of 1946 the Democrat party was holding most of the state of Tennessee in an iron grip and had been for 10 years. Voters were being shot, beaten, and intimidated. Ballot box stuffing was the rule in many counties. Election integrity was non-existent. The corruption went all the way to Washington DC. The DOJ, the FBI, the Tennessee State Supreme Court- all turned a blind eye to the worst corruption ever witnessed in the south, ignoring desperate pleas for help looking into the problem and saying there was nothing wrong.

Many people were on the take. Local sheriffs and deputies aligned with the machine were driving expensive cars and in some cases pistol whipping and even shooting voters who objected to their methods at the polls.. It took a group of concerned and angry returning WWII vets to clean things up- and it took a fight against armed deputies who were holding innocent people hostage, along with the ballot boxes they had stuffed, in a county courthouse. When the bullets and finally dynamite rousted them out- the Democrat machine was finally broken and justice returned. to McMinn county.

Enjoy an interview with Chris de Rose- author of "The Fighting Bunch", and pick up the book for a great read.
