104. Buying a home vs renting: which is smarter financially?

  • サマリー

  • Let’s say you could travel back in time to the early ‘90s. If you were to ask a thirtysomething Boomer which decision is smarter – buying a home or renting – they’d likely laugh in your face. Sure, interest rates were higher (as older Aussies often bring up), but prices were lower compared to the average income. Like, much lower. In the face of these figures, one choice stood out as the more sensible option.

But these days? It’s not so cut and dry. There are an array of factors which can influence your decision in this current climate… so many, that we won’t try to cram them into this brief description. Instead, we’ll leave it to Tash and Ana to crunch the numbers, compare the stats, and help you find your answer.

    Enjoy!
