Show Notes: 11 Things Great Speakers Do Differently #7 - Only Ask For Business IF You Are a Good FitThis strategy might seem counterintuitive, but in the long run, it is better to turn down an engagement that is not a good fit for you rather than lie and pretend it is a good fit.
When you are honest about what you speak about and how you best serve clients, you will often discover the organization:
- Has other opportunities for you that are a better fit
- Will invite you to speak the following year
- Will refer you to other organizations
If you are not a good fit for an engagement, a great way to serve the organization is to recommend another speaker who is a better fit.
