  • He's the tie that binds all Rochestarians together.

He's one of the few things that East-siders and West-siders agree on.

He's on Rochester's Mount Rushmore, alongside George Eastman, Walter The Accordion Man, and Brother Wease.

He's about to retire after a record-smashing career.

    He's Don Alhart.

Tonight we give tribute to The Don, the greatest newscaster of all time.

We start out with some fun facts about him, such as:

    • How they deduced how long his career was via carbon dating
    • His interview with King Solomon
    • His coverage of The Battle of Hastings
    • His political party of choice
    • and so much more.

We reminisce about his 1982 TV special with Wanda Miller as they inaugurate the then-prosperous Marketplace Mall, replete with egg contests and raffles that truly built a sense of community.

Tonight we ask the tough questions:

    • Will people still watch Channel 13 without The Don?
    • Who will take his place at the newsdesk of honor?
    • Who are these other flunkies they just hired?
    • If a Dunkin Donuts goes out of business, does it become another Dunkin Donuts?

And the tangents continue as we explore:

    • What Mike did with a month's worth of leftover Rochester Hot Meat Sauce
    • What is Portillo's and how Marc wants to sample their sandwiches
    • The Schaeller's Plate
    • (Editor's note: There was SO much hot meat sauce on it, I forgot to mention the curly fries!)

    Finally, tonight we memorialize:

    • Kodak Park
    • Krispy Kreme
    • Buckman's Donuts
    • Panzari's

It's another festival of food and fun you won't want to miss! (Doesn't that sound like an 80s TV commercial?) Thanks for telling your fellow inmates and escapees (and restaurateurs) about the show!
