Republicans have never fought for or even articulated conservatism in any meaningful way. They're too soft and timid. Always have been. And that's the problem.
We have Trump because he was the first person to fight for America. Or to come close to fighting for conservatism (usually by accident, but he still did a better job than Republicans).
Be kind. Have grace. Give the benefit of the doubt. Seek common ground. Don't be afraid to ask questions. And never make assumptions about what people are thinking... or why.
