There are a good number of spiritual disciplines that lead to our growth and walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Among the most practical and needful in our lives is Bible reading, along with memorization/meditation of Scripture, and studying God's Word. It's true that many who desire to read Scripture regularly find the Bible overwhelming and difficult to read, so they give up on something very needful in their walk of faith. This episode of 2Days Denarius sets a foundation and plan for those who desire to dedicate themselves to reading through the Bible in 2025 and beyond. It provides the important biblical foundation for doing so, which Bibles are most useful to aid the reader, various annual Bible reading plans that can support the reader in accomplishing the task of Scripture reading, and practical advice that can help readers avoid pitfalls, overcome them, and remain faithful to get through their Bible reading plan in 2025! A few years back, the late R. C. Sproul made some observations about the Bible related to gift giving and actual reading of the Bible among Christians in our time. It was noted that though many revere and respect the Word of God, the far...far majority of Christians never make a real effort to read it. Some don't read because to them it is irrelevant in our "sophisticated" times, and others believe that it is too difficult to comprehend, especially when it comes to books in the Bible like Leviticus and Numbers. The new episode of 2Days Denarius addresses these topics and shares ideas that help facilitate and increase willingness for Christians to take steps to engage Scripture in their daily living. The spiritual discipline of Bible reading is the first step one must take to properly partake in mediation, biblical study, memorization of Scripture, among other spiritual disciplines that affect our growth and walk in our union with Christ. It's an exciting time to see our New Year coming, and with it came a review and changes to the 2Days Denarius channel! Some new gear, along with a new podcast host/distributor has been chosen in hopes of seeing exponential growth in the coming days. 2Days Denarius is a ministry that exists to help Christians grow in their faith and to reach the lost with the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This the annual Thanksgiving prayer podcast of 2Days Denarius. It provides three Holiday prayers to listeners to use them before the Holiday meal. The prayers may be found at the 15 minute mark. These prayers come from an unnamed Puritan, John F Kennedy (1963), and Rev. Thomas. It also gives some Scripture reading on thanksgiving, along with a short narrative on the historical roots of what eventually became a great American Holiday. It's been almost two months since the moral lapse of Steve Lawson took place and it seems that we are not much further on what happened or if there is any real spiritual progress by him toward repentance, recovery, and ultimate restoration to his church body. This episode of 2Days Denarius respectfully deals with the Steve Lawson situation as one that teaches all believers, especially those in ministry, lessons for living our lives of faith to avoid the slippery slopes that can lead to spiritual failings and falls. This presentation works off stories written about Lawson but they appear more alleged at times and it truly is a slippery slope to reach any conclusions about it. There is a larger issue from Lawson's fall and other high profile minister failings in 2024, which is a near universal setting aside of the doctrine of the church (ecclesiology) in our times. Our focus will be on this and how ministers should function with proper titles and shepherding responsibilities. It also calls for us to keep all affected by this situation in prayer and to pray for the church as a whole.

With Election 2024 upon us, this offers a blessed opportunity for Christians to unite together in prayer for our nation and its upcoming Presidential Election. The prayer here is found from Daniel's great intercessory prayer from Chapter 9 of the book that bears his name. It is an example of seeking repentance, forgiveness and restoration for God's people to return to Him. This is an invitation for Christians and all who wish to pray for Election 2024 to take time to seek our Heavenly Father who is in control of all things in His world (Psalm 115:3).

Hypocrisy has brought much devastation in our world, especially in our relationships with others and God as well. This video examines a devotional from an English Puritan divine, Andrew Bromhall (1608-1662), who had extensive work with men in ministry in his time who had fallen into sin or were inefficient in ministry. He was the right man to write on the topic of hypocrisy having worked a period of his ministry with those who were living in it. But this devotional not only gives warnings about the dangers and damages that hypocrisy causes, it also provides remedies and solutions to help us avoid hypocrisy in our lives as we daily live to please our Savior and for the glory of God. The excellent devotional this lesson comes from is a book titled, "Voices From the Past: Puritan Devotional Readings" Vol. 2. The material used from this book falls under the Fair Use Act 17 USC 107, which allows copyrighted material to be used for criticism/evaluation, teaching. etc. Banner of Truth publishes volumes 1 and 2 of "Voices From the Past" and both are excellent additions to anyone who enjoys and benefits spiritually from Puritan writings.
