    In 1990, Crosley Green, a Black man, was convicted of shooting Chip Flynn and was sentenced to death by an all-white jury. Green claimed innocence, but, despite inconsistencies in the case, his pleas were left unheard. “48 Hours” correspondent Erin Moriarty has followed Green’s case for 25 years, examining the missing pieces throughout his trial and the aftermath. Out of all the cases Erin has covered, this is the one that troubles her the most. Now, Erin is shining a new light on the case that may bring Green’s freedom.

Prior to his death, he became involved with Sandy Murphy, and it was she who told police in September 1998 that she had found him dead of an apparent drug overdose.     In September 2004, Florida Keys residents Carl “Charlie” Brandt and his wife Teri sought refuge from Hurricane Ivan in the Orlando home of Teri’s niece, Michelle Jones. A few days after the Brandts’ arrival, police discovered their bodies. Teri had been stabbed to death; Michelle had been brutally dismembered; and Charlie had hanged himself in the garage. Kathy’s mother and sisters felt that since Mark was familiar with gasses that he was able to plan and execute the perfect murder.
