Monsters of the Midwest: Lost tracks from the action sixties! If you dig this kind of obscure music be sure to visit my Monacled Alchemist homepage for information and details on many unsung heroes.. This episode features twelve choice cuts from sought after 60s garage psych compilation “Monsters of the Midwest volume 2”, a series dedicated to promote the vital mid-states 60s music scene. Focus on Tommy Tucker & the Esquires: The Iowa Great Lakes Recording Studio and label IGL was based in tiny Milford, Iowa. Bands from the surrounding area of Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and, of course, Iowa came in droves as this was the only facility for miles. Over 100 singles were issued on IGL and it’s sister label, Sonic. This pounding three chord raver (with amazing drum sound for the era) was unleashed by way of Des Moines. The group had a previous 45 (IGL 108) that is vastly inferior to the track included (IGL 121).
