It is 2020, and reports of the newly emerging Covid-19 virus break in Wuhan, China. It was then little known that the virus would quickly take over the world and lock us down for months.
There was a cruise ship named the Diamond Princess near the coast of Japan that caught attention quickly.
As an experienced performer, Alex Smith worked on cruise ships as a dance captain and was accustomed to living on a ship as her everyday life. As soon as this new virus arrived onboard, breaking news suddenly became something very real.
Alex, one of the first Britons to experience COVID-19, describes her unique experience of the pandemic. From ship to shore, Japan, and a flight like no other back to England, this is where the pandemic started before it was the pandemic we know today.
