An interview with the guys who run Coombe Farm Organic; Jemima and Ryan - Episode034

  • サマリー

  • Today we have Jemima and Ryan from Coombe Farm on the show.

Coombe Farm is an all-organic farm in South Somerset that was first established by Andrew Warren with a mission to get more young people involved in farming. Mr Warren passed away in 1986 but left his farm to a trust, which is now responsible for continuing his vision, while maintaining the highest animal welfare practices.

What was striking during this conversation with Coombe Farm was the trustees’ willingness to support innovative ideas emerging from the young people involved in this farm. Having originally been a purely dairy farm, they now sell a wide range of nose-to-tail meat direct to consumer. Raising new livestock, organic certification and a new shop launch have all been key points of the journey, all underpinned by Warren’s  original vision of “young people being involved in farming.” Without that core principle - and the ethos and bravery of the trustees -  it’s hard to imagine some of the innovative ideas and new products now emerging from the farm.

The business’s thought leader Simon Sinek says the real test of leadership and clarity of vision is where organisations can continue to be innovative after the founder’s exit. From this conversation with Jemima and Ryan, we are sure that Coombe Farm will be thriving in the years to come.

We hope you enjoy this conversation.
