And now what helps people who don’t know what they want to do with their lives. We all are pressured to succeed in all aspects of our life. But that hides the reality that, although we try are best, life is not simple or straightforward. So every episode I talk to a new guest about how people really navigate their lives, discover their careers and have positive impact.

#1 - Want to know what it's like working in the Civil Service? 

James graduated from Cambridge in 2017 and has since worked across the public and private sector, with a focus on EU Exit and COVID-19 response. He is currently in the process of moving across to a new role in Policy in HM Land Registry, and is applying for a Masters in Sociology.

#2 - Want to know what it's like studying Social Sciences at Cambridge University?

James studied Human Social and Political Sciences at Cambridge University, from 2014-2017. James' interest in politics began when he was at school and is the thread that weaves throughout both his studies and career. 

#3 - We talk studying Economics at Cambridge and working in international development in Kenya with Arnav Kapur. 

Arnav tells us about the influences that have shaped his career - including his family, experiences in Bangladesh and working in investment banking. He explains how his outlook on international development and impact has changed throughout his professional life.

We talk to Alice Davis about her career working with animal charities. Alice has worked for the RSPCA and now works for the Dog’s Trust’s Freedom project which helps people escaping domestic abuse by putting the dog’s of owners who are fleeing into temporary accommodation, until their owners can find new and safe homes.

If you’re interested in a career in charities, working with animals or fighting domestic abuse, Alice’s career is great inspiration.

#5 - Let's be real. Who really knows what job they want to do? As Sophia explains, it's not a straight forward process.

Sophia studied law at Cambridge, did a couple of gap years after graduating while also working as a paralegal. However, Sophia realised law wasn't for her and now works as a tech consultant for Accenture. If you're worried about what career you want, Sophia's episode will help you de-stress and offer guidance through her own experiences!

Angie is an enthusiastic environmentalist with a love for travel. Her geography studies and commitment to charity work have kept Angie active, alongside an energy to keep trying new things. Angie shows how doing charity work can really help you to develop leadership skills that are vital across your life and also explains the many benefits of doing a gap year.

#7 – Harriett Verges has a range of talents and has pursued a ton of exciting opportunities. Harriett’s journey is definitely one to listen to if you’re pursuing your interests as a career, especially if you have a few to choose from!

Harriet is a 2018 graduate from the University of Leeds, having studied fashion marketing, and is now working as a creative uniformer and costumer in the UK's largest hospitality business. Harriett left school with both vocational dance qualifications (having been a semi-professional dancer before the age of 18) and with academic A-levels but still not much of an idea about what she wanted to do next. She is at the start of her journey and still doesn’t know where she wants to go next.
