Jenn graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Virginia Commonwealth University, and soon after, her career path took her to some of fashion’s epicentres. A stint at the prestigious Paris Fashion Institute, a role at Rick Owens as a Showroom Assistant, and hands-on experience at CRISTOFOLIPRESS shaped her as a stylist with a deep understanding of the industry. She rubbed elbows with top designers, assisted stylists, and worked backstage at Paris Fashion Week, gaining an insider’s look into the world of high fashion. Her career took a decidedly adventurous turn when she launched Wildflower Fashion in Bali, Indonesia. Jenn wasn’t just designing clothes; she was creating an experience. Her bespoke jumpsuits and bold accessories made a statement, and her fashion soirees became the talk of Bali’s creative circles. It was here that Jenn’s famed Style Archetype Quiz was born, helping people tap into their unique aesthetic through a process that transcends fashion trends. Style, for Jenn, is about celebrating the authentic you, and she helps her clients embody that ethos with every look. After Bali, Jenn returned to the States, driven to share her passion and expertise on a larger scale. She launched Stylegasm in 2021, which quickly gained recognition as a transformative styling experience. 2024/11/08
Cassidy McCauley is the Canvas Connoisseur of London, turning the business of art into a journey of discovery. With eight years in marketing and event planning, she’s carved out a unique space where art meets strategy. From a bustling art scene in London to her roots in Japan, Cassidy’s story is as vibrant as her acrylic masterpieces. I explored Cassidy's work further in their interview and played the fast paced fun way of best getting to know Cassidy - The This or That game. Cassidy’s path was painted early on, from the days she spent honing her skills at the American School in Japan. Cassidy's talent for creating, connecting, and inspiring shone through. She continued to shape her artistic and leadership flair at Boston University, balancing her International Relations degree with managing the BU Fashion Club. Here, she was no mere member; as Creative Director, she reinvented fashion shows, doubling club membership and quadrupling show attendance with savvy marketing. After BU, Cassidy’s curiosity for the business side of art took her to Hult International Business School, where she earned a Master’s in International Business. Armed with a head for management and a heart for creativity, Cassidy returned to London with a refined vision: to craft experiences that inspire people, from art lovers to trauma survivors. At the heart of Cassidy’s work is her vision for art as a healing force. Inspired by her journey with trauma recovery, she is an advocate for using creative expression as a path toward healing. Cassidy’s workshops, known for their inviting vibe, are designed for everyone, from curious beginners to seasoned artists. Looking forward, she’s developing programmes aimed at trauma healing through art, ensuring that the transformative power of creativity is accessible to those who need it most. Since 2020, Cassidy has blossomed as an independent artist and freelance marketing consultant, blending her brush strokes with business acumen. Her works – rich, layered acrylic pieces that tell personal stories with roots in Japanese mythology – reflect her journey of self-discovery and healing. Not one to simply display her art, Cassidy regularly hosts art nights across London, drawing enthusiasts from all walks of life. These nights, held every second Wednesday of the month, bring strangers together to paint a communal canvas, backed by live music. Previously, as an Event Manager at LSE and Event Coordinator at My Kid Atelier, Cassidy refined her event planning prowess, creating memorable experiences that bring people together around art and ideas. Her latest role as Rebrand Project Manager for City, University of London, showcases her skills in strategic thinking and project management, adding a polished edge to her creative toolkit. Cassidy’s calendar is full of paint-and-sip nights, workshops, and a community celebration in December to reflect on shared artistic journeys. In every event and canvas, Cassidy McCauley captures not just colours and stories but a sense of belonging, healing, and vibrant possibility. • Steven Lloyd-Gonzalez - Orchestral arranger and conductor.
    2024/10/29
In my interview with Steven Lloyd-Gonzalez, renowned orchestral arranger and conductor, we crafted his ideal cultural year through a series of spontaneous questions, sparking laughter, insights, and moments of reflection. Steven’s journey began with a serene afternoon at the Alhambra Palace, sipping Rioja, before setting off on a dream year in southern France to explore approaches to conducting, immersed in the richness of mid-20th-century classical music. Among his choices were the works of composers Bohuslav Martinů and Dmitri Shostakovich, whose pieces he’d study deeply during his imagined year. He painted a vivid itinerary that included a performance by the French Ballet Preljocaj of Romeo and Juliet, followed by a Croatian peka dinner overlooking the Mediterranean. For an ideal cultural week, Steven’s picks included a concert by Kings of Leon, Sam Mendes’s production of The Tempest, Kurt Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins, Shostakovich’s opera Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, and Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey on the big screen. For his “hero day,” he selected conductor Carlos Kleiber, poet Emily Dickinson, and, in a charming twist, Dickinson’s loyal dog, Carlo, as his dream companions for a day of inspiring conversation. Steven concluded this fantasy year by savouring Abbey Road by The Beatles as his first piece of music on his flight back. This conversation with Steven was both illuminating and unforgettable, filled with passion for the arts, favourite influences, and an enthusiasm that left me with a list of cultural gems to explore.

  • Karen Troussier, artist and disinformation campaigner
    2024/10/26
In a recent interview, I had the pleasure of speaking with Karen Troussier, an artist and passionate advocate dedicated to uncovering fake news and online impersonation. Karen’s dedication to exposing misinformation is both inspiring and vital, reflecting the importance of members like her in sustaining a democratic, member-driven organization free from corporate influence. Our conversation delved into Karen’s fascinating path from theatre to activism. She shared how her background in the arts has uniquely equipped her for diverse environments, even inspiring her to adopt a fictional persona for a role in a diamond company. Today, she focuses on identifying and reporting false information, particularly on social media, where she encounters numerous fake celebrity profiles aimed at misleading the public. Though she has made progress, Karen highlighted the continued need for vigilance and additional resources, including videography, to help amplify her message. Her mission is to raise awareness of the risks misinformation poses to society. Karen and I discussed the challenges of tackling conspiracy theories and their impact on public trust and cultural narratives. She spoke openly about her work debunking prominent conspiracy theories tied to high-profile events and figures, as well as her collaborations with esteemed doctors and researchers in France who share her commitment to this work. In a lighter segment of our talk, I invited Karen to envision her ideal cultural year—a journey funded by a prominent New York foundation to support her research on misinformation. The fantasy included a book deal, TED Talk, and even a television series, allowing Karen to travel first-class to the U.S., stay in a luxury suite in New York’s Freedom Tower, and explore conspiracy theories domestically. Karen added her own touches to this experience, from listening exclusively to Ben Harper’s music to dining at a restaurant in Greenwich Village. Together, we explored her cultural interests on an imaginary tour of New York’s art scene, with Karen choosing experiences from a Shakespeare tragedy to a Ballet Rambert contemporary performance, the Broadway musical Cats, and an opera of Tosca. She also selected the film A Star is Born, noting she was eager to finish it for its emotional depth. I then imagined a celebratory dinner for Karen, her partner, and a special guest of her choice. She chose her late mentor, Georges Vard, a respected Geneva theatre director, whose guidance left a profound mark on her career and perspective. As we wrapped up, Karen and I exchanged our mutual appreciation, with me thanking her for her invaluable contributions to the Arts and Culture Network and for her determined work in the challenging field of online information. Our conversation underscored Karen’s commitment to authenticity and truth and the network’s support for artists who use their voices to create positive societal impact.
