How do you advocate for your expertise as a historian in the world of academia? Claire can help you with that.

"The problem [in academia] is that there are no jobs. There are far too many people available for the few jobs that exist... And having a social media presence has given me, thankfully, the option to sort of see my way out of that and look at forging a path in history and being a scholar that isn't exclusive to working in academia."

How do you keep a separation between journalism and marketing when writing about a niche? Rowan can help you with that, like she did at Rascal for tabletop roleplaying games.

"I graduated high school into Donald Trump's election and then I graduated college into the pandemic. Every major life milestone that I've had has been disrupted by some big unprecedented event. And I'm like, all right, well, I guess everything's gonna burn. So I might as well build something up from the ashes while it's burning. So that way when everything else is gone, I have something."

Rowan Zeoli is the co-founder of Rascal, an independent, worker-owned outlet for journalism about tabletop roleplaying games and the people who make them.
