    This Episode

In today's episode, we listen to James (Jim) Elliott, a leader in the armed forces who also coaches athletes and became educated in matters of the brain. Jim and I talk today about how his life took him into the armed forces, but that as his mental health started to be impacted, he learned how important it was to destigmatise mental health and make it accessible to everyone. That led him to learn more about it and learn to make it accessible for others in his industry.

We also begin to talk about how this can relate to all leaders, and how in our experience, it all boils down to happiness. What makes us happy? Why? And how can we create more of that in our everyday lives?

    Today's Guest

A passionate and reliable resiliency and well-being coach, with over 6 years of coaching experience from both national league rugby teams, to special forces, to Olympian athletes and a corporate environment, James Elliott has a wealth of knowledge in the designing, development and delivery of mental resilience training programmes.

James Elliott was selected to be an instructor in the British Army’s first Army Parachute Jumping Instructor’s platoon, where he began his qualifications, in both mental health and sports psychology. He supported others by coaching them through anxiety regulation and emotional control. It would be this experience that would be so influential to James Elliott’s mental resiliency coaching career, enabling him to help develop the MRT (Mental Resilience Training) currently on offer within the military and eventually to be delivered across the entirety of the British Army, including special forces and soldiers on testing deployments, on either a one on one basis or as a group.
