  • Episode 13 - "I reckon they're holding hands"
    2025/04/14
Well hello there, how the devil etc etc? So, we're up to our bakers dozen, thanks for sticking around this far, i'm assuming its due to our silky tones and devilishly handsome features rather than our useless musical banter. On that subject, what have we got for you on our 13th episode? How about a feature on comeback albums, with a side order of Arctic Monkeys chat? If that weren't enough, we're up to the letter D in our collection deep dive, we look at some exciting new releases, aaaand prepare Simon for his Easter vacay. Tuck in, leave room for your easter eggs.

  • Episode 12 - Buyers Guide: Bob Mould
    2025/03/31
Well hello you, how are you doing? Thank you kindly for coming back for more fun/punishment (it's a fine line here at BHYHIOV Towers). So whats the headline for episode 12? We've only gone and blummin' done a career overview of the legend that is Mr Bob Mould! His latest album "Here We Go Crazy" is merely the latest stellar album in a career thar has spanned 5 decades, so we've done a deep dive into those years and collated what we believe to be an essential 10 album guide to the mans career. Wasn't easy! Elsewhere on the show we discuss up and coming releases of interest, what we've had on our decks since last time, and Simon regales us with tales of his recent expedition to that London. Thoughts, comments, abuse welcome as per usual, hit us up on our Instagram page. Enjoy!

  • Episode 11 - "You saw a swan get arrested?"
    2025/03/18
Welcome back fellow turntable fans, how the devil etc etc? So what have we in store for you on this, our eleventh episode? Well, if stories of criminal wildlife don't whet your appetite (and they really should), maybe a chat about the wildhearts, and at the drive in's multiple offshoots will? Or maybe the latest on the thrilling alphabetic journey thru each of our collections? Its B this week, and 2 very different bands for consideration. Then if that wasn't exciting enough, sit back and relive the album "Lullabies to Paralyze" by Queens of the Stone Age with us, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Quite a polarizing album upon release, we discuss how it fits into their history with 2 decades of hindsight. Finally, we wrap up with news of a few upcoming vinyl releases, before retiring back into the darkness to wait for the next episode, like the nocturnal creatures that we are. Nocturnal creatures with empty wallets and heads full of (sometimes useful, sometimes even accurate) musical knowledge. Now, consume!!

  • Episode 10 - "I just wanna give him a hug"
    2025/03/04
Hello you beautiful lot, and welcome to our 10th episode! Whodathunk we'd make it to double digits? Massive thanks to you all for continuing to support us and somehow find enjoyment in the waffle we continue to spew in the name of entertainment. Anyhoo, mushy stuff aside, what have we got for you on this episode? Well, as we all know Record Store Day 2025 is around the corner, so a perfect time then to share our thoughts on RSD - does it still work? Positives/negatives? What releases are we prepared to stand in the cold for hours on end for, if any?! You will come away either baffled or enlightened! Elsewhere we get excited by new releases from the Ipecac label, drool over the latest Opeth reissue, and have a bit of a natter about the greatest hits of a certain British rock band currently celebrating their 40th birthday....any guesses? As usual all thoughts and comments can be shared with us via our instagram account. Ciao for now.

  • Episode 8 - "I'd probably punch him"
    2025/02/04
Welcome back friends of the wax, and may we cordially invite you to episode 8! We hope you've all successfully navigated the hell that was January. Our feature this episode is on the post hardcore scene of the 1990's and early turn of the century, which should set a noisy template as we all throw ourselves into February. We give a run down on the history of the genre, and recommend a few releases from our own collections to get you started. Thoughts and comments are as always welcome, hit us up on our instagram page, we won't bite! As per usual we're also talking about what we've had on the decks, what vinyl releases are coming up, as well as thoughts on one of the big 4 thrash giants. Last but not least Simon has a meltdown over ambient music....methinks the poor lamb just needs a lie down. Anyhoo, thanks for coming back, now get stuck in!

  • Episode 7 - "it's definitely not a duck..."
    2025/01/21

Welcome one and all to episode number 7! "Number 7 already?" you cry? Why yes! "Have you pair learned to get your facts right yet?" Why...erm...sometimes. Listen and find out! This week we discuss the first in what will be a regular feature of albums celebrating a significant anniversary in 2025, this time being Faith No More's oft forgotten and under appreciated "King for a day...fool for a lifetime" which turns 30 (yes, THIRTY) years old this year. Also we've been listening to (and buying) some recommendations we've had from you lovely lot, so we're having a natter about those as well as some other bits and bobs we've been listening to. Throw in a bit of a whinge about Axl Rose's mob at the end and damn it if you haven't got another jam packed episode to get in yer lugholes! What are you waiting for?

  • Episode 6 - Album rankings - Therapy?
    2025/01/08

Happy new year and welcome to our first show of 2025! This time around we present our first ever Album Ranking episode, and what better way to start than by visiting the catalogue of show favourites, the perenially noisy belfast trio Therapy? We cover their entire album output (+ mini albums) from 1990 to the present day, and find out what still holds up, what's aged badly, and what surprises have been thrown up to fresh ears. Elsewhere we discuss which tunes we've been spinning since last time and what 2025 has in store. Now get stuck in! As per usual all comments and suggestions can be directed to us at https://www.instagram.com/but_have_you_heard_it_on_vinyl/
