    YAGE treffen sich für diese Live-Episode von CHATEAU DISASTER im PopSub Recordstore zum ersten Mal seit fast 20 Jahren wieder!!

    Wer sich in den letzten Jahren auf die Suche nach den Ursprüngen des deutschen oder europäischen Emos beziehungsweise Screamos gemacht hat, und nicht über YAGE gestolpert ist, hat wahrscheinlich nicht richtig hingeschaut.

    Zusammen mit KATZENSTREIK und BOXHAMSTERS zählen sie zu den „Gründern“ einer Bewegung, die seit Mitte der 90er so einiges an Entwicklung durchgemacht hat.

    Ihre Alben und EPs, die sie vor allem auf Ebulition, EarthWaterSky Connection und Defiance Records veröffentlicht haben, sollten in keiner Emo-Plattensammlung fehlen – wenn man denn noch ein Exemplar zu fassen bekommt.

    Die ursprünglich in Köln gegründete Emo-Institution hat es geschafft, den Schritt aus dem toughen Hardcore hin zu authentischem Screamo zu gehen und ist dabei immer politisch und echt geblieben.

    2004 haben sie sich leider aufgelöst. Seitdem lassen sie uns auf eine dringend notwendige Reunion warten.

    Wir sprechen über Emo und Politik, was sie so in den letzten fast 20 Jahren getrieben haben, wo denn ihr wichtigstes Konzert stattgefunden hat und ob es denn vielleicht doch noch Chancen für eine Reunion gibt.

    GIVER melden sich nach über vier Jahren mit ihrem dritten Album „The Future Holds Nothing But Confrontation“ zurück, das am 20. September 2024 über End Hits Records erschienen ist.

    Bereits mit der ersten Single „Keeping You Alive“ setzen die Kölner ein deutliches Zeichen – sowohl musikalisch als auch inhaltlich. Seit ihren Anfängen hat die Band ihren Hardcore-Sound weiterentwickelt und um brachiale Metal- und Postpunk-Elemente erweitert, was sich auch im zornigen Klangbild ihres neuen Materials widerspiegelt.
    In „Keeping You Alive“ rechnet die Band mit dem endlosen Streben nach individueller Bedürfnisbefriedigung ab, das der Neoliberalismus etabliert hat. Sie prangern die „depressive Hedonie“ an – einen Zustand des permanenten, aber leeren Strebens, der Wut und Frustration hinterlässt.

    Inhaltlich legen die fünf mit ihrem neuen Album ein politisches Manifest vor. Sie setzen sich kritisch mit Themen wie Klassenkampf, Kulturkonflikten und der Klimakrise auseinander und richten ihren Fokus auf die gesellschaftlichen Folgen des vorherrschenden Neoliberalismus.

    Diese aufgestaute Wut zieht sich nicht nur durch die Texte, sondern auch durch die Musik: Gewaltige Gitarrenriffs, ein Mix aus englischem und deutschem Gesang sowie düstere Gesangslinien verleihen den Songs eine intensive Atmosphäre.

    Mit „The Future Holds Nothing But Confrontation“ erkundet die Band neue musikalische Territorien und kombiniert Post-Punk, Black Metal und Hardcore zu einem Sound, der zwischen Bands wie Oathbreaker, Converge und Chelsea Wolfe angesiedelt ist. Produziert wurde das Album von Lewis Johns, der auch für Acts wie Employed To Serve und Svalbard gearbeitet hat. GIVER erschaffen so ein Werk, das sowohl klanglich als auch inhaltlich eindringlich und kompromisslos ist.
