In this episode, we discuss Carol Hoover's journey in conservation, with specific emphasis on her work with the Eyak Preservation Council. The council is working to preserve The Copper River Delta, one of the last large wild watersheds left on the planet. It is currently under grave threat with the sale of the Bering River Coal Fields. Within this threat lies a great opportunity. If a coal conglomerate purchases this coalfield, 3 million acres of sacred land is risked, as well as the Alaskan salmon ecosystem that thrives there. On the other hand, this sale provides us with an incredible opportunity to support the Eyak Preservation Council's purchase of this land, which returns this wild complex back to its' original Eyak stewards, protects an enormous amount of Wild Alaskan Salmon life, keeps coal in the ground, and potentially grants the Copper River Complex protection for all of time.
