  • African American artist, Christina Hunt Wood talks about growing up in rural Upstate NY in the 80s and 90s and how her art practice is influenced by it.

    Christina Hunt Wood is a multi-media artist exploring her rural, predominantly white community’s relationship with race and everyday expressions of power. She earned her MFA in Visual Arts from Lesley Art+Design and her BA in Studio Art from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Her work has been exhibited throughout the east coast, recently in shows at Collar Works (Troy, NY), Fenimore Art Museum (Cooperstown, NY), and The Painting Center (NYC).

    Christina is a 2022 recipient of the Creatives Rebuild NY AEP Grant, 2021 recipient of NYSCA's Decentralization Individual Artist Grant, and she was named a "Steward of the Catskills" by The Catskill Center in 2019 for her work as an artist and anti-racism community organizer.
