    Learn More About Jim Schamadan, M.D.:

    Raised on an Ohio farm, excelled in basketball and football as a quarterback before joining the US Navy at 17. Graduated high school early, studied engineering, then trained as a pilot in the USAir Force. Became a doctor on the GI Bill, serving in Korea and Vietnam before practicing in Ohio. Moved to Arizona to teach and practice medicine, later working in Saudi Arabia to develop military hospitals. Joined emergency medical teams during Desert Storm. Returned to Arizona and focused on hospital management and on research in crash injury, heat stress, and emergency medicine. A respected figure in the medical field, with findings used globally.

    More About Dr. Kathy Reeves:

    Dr. Kathleen Reeves is the President and CEO of The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, the leading national nonprofit organization that champions humanism in healthcare. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Urban Health and Population Science, the Center for Urban Bioethics, and the Department of Pediatrics at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. Her specialties include the human connection in healthcare, ethics, trauma-informed care, substance misuse, urban health, healthcare professions education, and health equity.

    She spent 20 years at the Katz School of Medicine before taking the helm of the Gold Foundation. Her leadership positions there included Founding Director, Center for Urban Bioethics; Chair, Department of Urban Health and Population Science; Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs; and inaugural Senior Associate Dean for the Office of Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. She is a Gold Humanism Honor Society member and was previously recognized as an Honorable Mention for the Gold Foundation’s Pearl Hurwitz Humanism in Healthcare Award.

    Dr. Reeves resides outside of Philadelphia with her husband, Edisio, who is a practicing pediatric gastroenterologist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. They have two children, Ben and Ann

    More About Dr. Caroline Ward:
    Carolyn Ward, MD, is the Director of Clinical Strategy at Particle Health. With a background spanning both clinical practice and product development, she is a dynamic leader with a strategic vision deeply rooted in her experience in healthcare. With a bachelor's in neurobiology from the University of Pennsylvania and a medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Dr. Ward went on to complete her internal medicine residency at Rutgers Robert Wood and served as chief resident there. She then worked as a primary care physician at Forward as well as a clinical product lead in the digital health and telehealth space. She was able to bring that combination of medical expertise and scientific rigor to her strategic leadership role now at Particle Health, with a focus on clinical informatics and data products. Her ability to bridge the gap between clinical practice and product development positions her as a visionary leader in the evolving landscape of digital health applications.

    Since the recording of this episode Dr. Carolyn Ward has also begun working at Ro as the Director of Clinical Product Strategy.

    Lisa Terry, CHPA, CPP has significant experience leading healthcare security, police, safety and emergency management programs. Lisa currently serves as the Chief Development Officer for Vistelar Conflict Management Solutions. Prior to that she served as Vice President, Healthcare for Allied Universal®.

    Lisa has served as the Chief of Campus Police and Public Safety with WakeMed Health and Hospitals in Raleigh, North Carolina, Chief of Police and Public Safety with Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia and Director of Hospital Police and Transportation at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

    As 2024 Chair of the ASIS Healthcare Community Steering Committee and as a former board president and guidelines council member of IAHSS, Lisa has been fortunate to collaborate with some of the country’s greatest minds in healthcare, security, and policing.
