  • Creating Your Podcast Content
    2023/06/27

Do you struggle with the creation of your podcast content? Always feel like you are a step behind and trying to get ahead. I know, even I struggle with this sometimes. Today, I’ve invited Tonesha Hyde, host of the U R Immeasurable Podcast. She’s been recording weekly for just about a year and I wanted to ask her how she comes up with her content.

Tonesha shares her process for recording content, including writing down important points and the importance of passion and authenticity in podcasting. She also discusses her struggles with creating structured content and how she feels about repeating topics (psst. – it’s a good thing!).

  • Adding in Podcast Ads
    2023/05/30

Podcast ads are a common way to promote courses, programs, coaching services, products, and other offerings. However, the placement of these ads is crucial, as putting them at the beginning of the episode can result in listeners scrolling through or getting turned off, while placing them at the end hardly ever results in people listening to them. The best approach is to insert the ad somewhere in the middle of the episode, somewhere between the 6-20 minute mark depending on the length of the episode, where it makes sense in the context of the conversation and offers a bit of a conversation break.

When crafting an ad, it is important to provide a brief introduction to who you are and what you are offering, making sure to generate SEO-rich content. You can hire a professional voice artist or do it yourself, but the main objective is to make sure the ad is effective and not intrusive in the listening experience. By placing the ad in the right location and making it relevant to the episode's content, listeners are more likely to engage with it and take action, whether by purchasing a product or signing up for a service. All in all, podcast ads can be a valuable tool in reaching and engaging with a target audience.

  • What's in Your Podcast Trailer?
    2023/05/23

This week's topic is all about creating a trailer for your podcast. A trailer is generally created before recording the first episode and is used to introduce the show to various platforms such as Apple, Spotify, and Google podcasts. The trailer is also a good opportunity to familiarize yourself with the hosting process and build confidence before uploading an entire episode. The trailer should give a brief introduction about yourself, what listeners can expect, and a teaser about what type of episodes will be featured. It's also recommended to share the mission and purpose of the show as well as the frequency of episodes. Deleting a trailer is possible but Apple likes you to have them. Trailers aren't necessary for every season unless the focus of the show changes.

Overall, creating a trailer is a crucial step for introducing your podcast, and provides a great opportunity to set the tone of the show and share important information with listeners. The trailer should be about five minutes maximum, though longer is acceptable and can include any kind of content. While deleting a trailer is possible, it is recommended to keep it as it helps to make the RSS feed connection and it serves as a quantifier of having a podcast. Lastly, the trailer should mention the frequency of episodes, and is vital if the focus of the show changes.

  • Making Your Podcast Outros Count
    2023/05/11

We are back with another basics episode to chat about your podcast outro.  It's important to keep your outro brief and to the point. Most listeners will only stick around for the first few seconds of your outro, so make sure to include any important information or CTAs right at the beginning.  While there are several ways you can create a podcast outro, there is no right or wrong way.  It’s your way!

Don’t forget to direct them to your socials, website, or any other bits of information you may want them to review.  Ask for that review, rating, share AND ask them to subscribe.  Often people forget and just verbally giving the ask is enough to have people remember to do it.
