Dime-Store Detective flashes back and forth from the present to 1981 when Donald Mackinder's father and uncle were embroiled in a moonshiner war with a rival gang. In 1981, the Mackinder brothers were feared and respected moonshiners in north Georgia. When a rival gang attempts to force the brothers out of business, it results in an all-out war.
