ROMANS 5:6-8 Trust is a big deal. Most of us want to know that the people we trust really will keep their word to us. Think about the types of people you typically make agreements with: Are they people you trust? Normally, we don’t make agreements with people we know will break their word to us, right? God made a covenant, an agreement between two parties, with Noah to never flood the earth again because of sin (Gen. 9:11). In other words, God promised never to destroy the earth, humanity, and all living things in the same way. God made several covenants, or promises, to people in Scripture, and one of the most important promises He made was to send a Savior. Here’s the deal, though: God made these covenants with imperfect human beings. No matter how hard we try, we can never keep up our end of the covenant to follow God. Because we are born into sin, we can’t keep God’s law perfectly. But God already knew that, and He still chose to make a promise to us anyway. He still chose to send Jesus even though He knew our fallen nature would mean that we’d never follow Him perfectly. While we were still sinners, before we could choose God, God sent Jesus. God didn’t send Jesus because we’re trustworthy or deserving, He sent Jesus because He loves us. PRAY THANK YOU FOR SENDING JESUS AND FOR KEEPING ALL OF YOUR PROMISES. WHAT DOES THAT REVEAL ABOUT HIS LOVE FOR US? | WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER SALVATION IS A GIFT RATHER THAN SOMETHING YOU CAN EARN?
