EP 07: Joe Richman and Jaye Johnson drop in with Genevieve about how to keep a long-term relationship turned on, alive and emotionally current

  • サマリー

  • Being in a long-term relationship takes work. It’s not always perfect, and it shouldn’t be, if you want to hold space for honoring your truth. To keep a long-term relationship alive, it’s all about making it your number one priority.

In today’s episode, my friends Joe and Jaye share how important it is in a relationship to experiment and be curious. They talk about how an affair led them to be really honest about what they want and don’t want, and how the honesty and openness they’ve found on the other side of the affair has deepened their commitment to each other.

Over their 20+ years together, they have made it a point to grow, individually and as a couple, and be open to all the emotions that come with existing in partnership—the anger, the passion, the hurt, the joy. They are a true inspiration for what it means to put in the work to stay together.

Working at your relationship isn’t a bad thing; it’s your superpower.

    What’s in this episode:

The story of Joe and Jaye’s relationship and how it has evolved

How Joe’s affair gave them the opportunity to reinvent their relationship

The many stages of their marriage and how they have grown through them

Why they refer to their relationship as a laboratory

The importance of total honesty in a partnership

Why they value being open over withholding feelings and truths

How getting past self-consciousness and away from expectations about what sex should be has made their sex life better (including the good and the bad and the tricky)

How they’ve created a relationship that supports their authentic selves
