Well done, my good and faithful servant” is a familiar phrase—one we often hold onto as the ultimate aspiration for a future reward. But what if, instead of inspiring joyful anticipation of a reunion with our LORD and God, it has unintentionally created an atmosphere of fear-driven performance and ungodly productivity?

In this devotional, we are reminded that God is not pleased with us when we do things rooted in striving or productivity, but when it flows from love for HIM.

It is easy to mistake fear for love—to serve out of anxiety, obligation, or the desire to earn approval. Yet true love for God is anchored in this truth: nothing I do can make God love me more, and nothing I fail to do can make Him love me less.

God is not pleased when we approach HIM motivated by fear or performance. HE delights in hearts that serve, obey, and surrender out of pure love—hearts aligned with HIS will and secure in HIS unfailing affection.

The Holy Spirit is the least-known Person of the Godhead, which consists of the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. But Genesis 1 and 2 show us just how important He is in our formation. We wouldn’t be alive today without Him choosing to dwell within us.

In chapter 2 of Genesis, we see that the very breath of God breathed into Adam (humanity) is none other than the Holy Spirit. And because Adam sinned, He departed from us; but through Jesus, He has returned to dwell within us—back to where He chose to make His home in the beginning of creation.

What a marvelous God. And He is here today, reintroducing Himself to us, if we will receive Him.

We reflect on the powerful truth that God is not just Lord over our spiritual lives—He is Lord over our finances, health, relationships, purpose, and every detail in between. Through the story in the Book of Genesis 24:21, we explore Abraham’s servant, who paused in stillness after praying for guidance in finding a wife for Isaac. Instead of rushing ahead, he remained silent to discern whether the Lord had truly made his journey successful. His response teaches us the power of surrender, submission, and stillness in discerning God’s will.
