Namita Modi, AIA LEED AP is the founder of Modi Architecture & Design, a full-
service architectural design practice focused on private home commissions, residential
development and urban design collaborations in the NYC region. In her career, she has
designed over one hundred projects, a body of work that includes private residences, rural conservation prototypes and sustainable compounds throughout the US.
Her speculative design projects include ecologically driven installations for Open Air Lab, a collaborative at New Inc, a museum-led cultural incubator in NYC.
She is a co-chair for the AIANY CRAN knowledge committee since 2019 where she has curated over several dozen programs that explore innovation in practice, design and construction techniques emerging from custom residential design. She has served on several design juries nationally and has lectured at architecture conferences. She is also a mentor/educator to emerging architects in her community and within a network of
architecture schools in the Northeast. This year, Namita was appointed to the Dean’s
Council at Penn’s Weitzman School of Design. She holds a BA from Barnard College
and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and is a registered
architect in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
