Welcome to today’s episode of To Psychology and Beyond where we are thrilled to welcome Professor Louise Sharpe who joins us to talk about her University
experiences, the incredible career she has spanning both research and
clinical work, the work she is currently doing, and her advice to students for
managing well-being at university.
Professor Sharpe has a Bachelor of Arts with Honours, and a Master of Psychology here at the University of Sydney and a PhD from the Royal Holloway University London, and was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences of Australia in 2019. Professor Sharpe is the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Research Training at the University of Sydney, and Professor of Clinical Psychology.
Professor Sharpe is the recipient of numerous awards including the Ian M. Campbell Memorial Prize from the Australian Psychological Society in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the scientific and professional status of Clinical psychology in Australia, and the Distinguished Career Award from the Australian Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Professor Sharpe is a clinical psychologist by training and is an internationally recognised expert in health psychology with particular expertise in cognitive behavioural treatments for patients living with chronic physical illness and how people adjust to illness.
