Father's Day Meditation - Honoring the Divine Masculine

  • サマリー

  • Today is Father's Day here in YYC Canada, and in today's practice, we explore honoring our fathers, investing our intentions into embodying qualities of the divine masculine (creativity, nurturing, wisdom, caretaking, supporting the community etc). These are qualities all of us have regardless of gender. In a world where toxic masculine qualities are held in high esteem (such putting one's self first at the expense of the community, manipulating people and circumstances to maximize profit and power, hoarding power and material wealth, considering and treating groups of people as lesser-than in order to feel superior, and so on), our time spent honoring what beneficial masculine strength means is both an antidote to popular culture and a way forward, in providing a role model for younger men and for men and women who may be interested in or confused by the shallow but very vocal debates nature of men's strength these days in popular media.

(BTW, the ancient Mesopotamians, Persians and Greeks all had these debates; this is what happens when middle aged men start worrying about the younger generation being "weak". We have 8000 years of documented history on this worry; it's certainly not a new topic! The debate is identical through history; it is a very interesting rabbit hole worth pursuing if you are feeling worried about young men not being manly enough! Middle-aged men were very worried about young men's manliness in WW1, WW2, and oh boy, how the "Greatest Generation" freaked out about the hippies in the 60s! Young men are gonna be just fine!Young men are gonna be just fine!)

To join our practice, please email me at Calgary Mindfulness @ Gmail. Com, and visit our website at http://www.CalgaryMindfulness.ca. We have two more Sunday online practices prior to summer break, where we'll be meeting outside to practice in fun locations around the city. Thanks, Rosanna
