Dave, Mark and Jony discuss the 3rd package film in the 40's that were keeping the studio alive during wartime. And that film is 1946's "Make Mine Music"! This was a hard one to watch, as it is the only feature film in the Disney Animated Classics canon that is not on Disney +, or streaming in full length for that matter. The boys had to get creative, but alas! So, come discuss all the animated styles and story lines, a short that was pulled from subsequent release after it's depiction of gun violence, and hear the boys write their own opera...of sorts. Join three caballeros as they watch the second of the 40's Disney "package films" and the last to do with the Good Neighbor Policy, 1940's "The Three Caballeros". And back to Latin America we go, with adventures in Uruguay, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico! And it wouldn't be a proper fiesta without Donald Duck, Jose Carioca, and the newest caballero, Panchito Pistoles! In this episode, Dave, Mark and Jony (and Uncle Mickey) travel South with the Disney animators, making stops in Peru, Chile, and Brazil, among others, in the 1943 film Saludos Amigos! Being the first of the "package films" the made up most of the 40's in Disney feature film as well as the first of two to be part of the Good Neighbor policy to help strengthen relationships with the Americas during wartime, this is a rather interesting leg of our film journey.
