  • Episode 8: Navigating Church Hurt
    2023/11/20

How do you keep living Fully Alive when “church hurt” knocks you down? Church hurt is a popular term used to describe the pain people feel when they experience some form of rejection, neglect, or even abuse from leaders in a church. And while the church certainly isn’t the only institution where people experience pain like this, Jesus’ church leaders should be leading from a place of humility, compassion, and grace… all marks of Jesus’ character.

In today's episode Brian Phipps chats with his longtime friend, Rex Otey. Rex has offered to share how this “church hurt” affected him, and how Jesus, in spite of it, never stopped pursuing him.

  • Episode 7: Living Into Your Calling
    2023/11/08

One of the major elements of living Fully Alive is discovering and living into your personal calling. In Ephesians 2:10 we read… “We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” This passage in the bible says you are a work of art, fashioned by God, to do a special set of works, that God will all cause to make sense to us. For most people, it is hard to see this… especially early in our pursuit of understanding our calling.

In Episode 7, Brian Phipps chats with Bre Wiebe about her path to discovering and living into her personal calling. One of the biggest takeaways was not saying no for God or to God but being open to where He is leading you. Listen in at this compelling story of living into your personal calling.

  • Episode 6: Refining Our Character
    2023/10/25

What does developing character have to do with living Fully Alive? Is character development “old school?” Is it essential for Christians? Or is it something even more than essential… more like an infinite inheritance, that if truly understood would become one of our most exciting pursuits in life?

In episode six, Brian Phipps chats with Kevin Harris, President of Radical Mentoring which is based in Atlanta, Georgia. Radical Mentoring, founded by the late Regi Campbell in 2007, has been helping men, and women, reshape generations of families by developing Jesus-like character. Kevin, who was working in the marketplace when he met Regi, became the Executive Director of Radical in 2015, and then assumed leadership of the ministry in 2019.

  • Episode 5: Measurable Outcomes
    2023/10/11

Do measurable outcomes belong in disciple-making conversations? If clear objectives and periodic reports on progress are helpful in developing business, physical health, and so many other things, why are they not more prevalent in our pursuit of being formed into the likeness of Jesus? How much more Fully Alive could we become if we knew exactly what to pursue and had regular check-ins and support to inspire that growth?

In today's episode, Brian Phipps talks with Rob Wegner and Brian Johnson. Both are pioneering leaders of the Kansas City Underground, a network of reproducing disciples and micro churches here in Kansas City, but with influence around the world.
